1. Where do I sign up?

Tickets/Teams can be purchased online at www.Ticketmaster.com or through the DeltaPlex box office, or by calling the DeltaPlex. Tickets should be available for sale 1/26/08.

2. Can I buy multiple tickets since it’s on Ticketmaster?

Yes. It will increase your chances of winning as long as you buy them at the right times. You don’t want to buy two tickets that would be playing in the same round leaving your table empty. We will explain this later

3. How many teams will be in the tournament?

Our goal is to register at least 512 teams for the tournament so that we can reach the highest payout. (At maximum capicty we can host 2,048 teams)

4. ThatS a lot of teams, what are my chances of winning?

That depends on how many teams enter, but the overall odds are approximately 1 out of 8.

5. $25,000 seems like a lot of money to give away for only a $100 entry. Is this legit?

Yes, please see the above answer.

6. Why is the prize from 1st to 2nd place such a big difference?

Although it should be incentive enough to be named the best player in the state of Michigan, we feel a large monetary gain should be awarded. We want to make it worth your time to come and enjoy the event. 2nd place still gets a nice return for their $100 and they get to have a great time and meet come cool people

7. What does the 1-4 players per team mean? Can I play by myself?

Yes you can play by yourself. We want everyone to be able to participate in the tournament so we are giving you the option of playing with 1-4 players to decrease the entry fee per person. This way it will only cost you $25 to come out and enjoy the event with a group of your friends.

8. I am not 21, can I still play?

Yes. The tournament games are not played with alcohol. Players will have their I.D.s checked at registration and players will be given wristbands.

9. If I am 21 can I play with beer?

No. Many states including Michigan will not allow drinking games. We do not force are player to drink alcohol. Concessions will be open to purchase alcohol for those 21+.

10. Will concession stands be open?

Yes. Concessions will be open to purchase alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages and food.

11. How does the game work using water cups?

To start the day all of the cups will be filled with water and are not to be drunk throughout the duration of the day. When a player makes a shot, move the cup away from the triangle towards the edge of table. When the game is finished the cups will be repositioned to start the next game. This cuts down the length of games and it would just be gross to drink out the same cup.

12. So during the games players don’t drink anything, right?

Yes. It makes running this many games in one day more efficient.

13. What kinds of tables are used during the tournament?

We are sponsored by Bing Bong Tables which makes the official 8 foot long beer pong tables. We use 40mm ping pong balls and 16 ounce solo cups.

14. How many tables will you be using for this many teams?

We have the capacity to hold up to 256 tables on the floor at once.

15. Is this just a one day tournament?

Yes.

16. How will I know what team number I am?

When you pay through Ticketmaster they send us a list of the captain’s names. You will be able to see your team on the Team Starting Times listed under the Team Registration tab. We will have it completely updated before the start of the tournament

17. Once I have registered do I have to wait around till 2:00, or can I leave the arena?

As of now we are working on that because of liability issues. We think that up till 2:00 you can come and go, but we are still not sure yet if you can leave once the games start.

18. Who keeps score of the games?

We will have officials that will watch the games and keep track of the winners.

19. Will 20 minutes be enough time to finish a game?

20 minutes should be plenty of time to finish. If you finish earlier, please make your way off the floor so the next team can come in and get ready to play. Times are subject to change depending on the number of attendees.

20. Will there be anything else to do besides beer pong at the tournament?

Yes. If you are not playing we will have up to 50 practice tables up above the bleachers that overlook the stadium floor where you can have fun and play pong or mess around all day. It’s a really cool set up. We are also working on bringing foosball tables into another conference room and setting up a bar area, but this is not certain yet. As more teams enter, it will free up some money to bring in more excitement.

21. I am a college student and I can’t afford to play, but I really want to. Is there anyway I could play for cheaper than $50?

Yes, you have two options. You can play with a group of friends, up to 4 people to lower the entry to $25 a person. Or my personal favorite, tell mom and dad that you need a new shirt or a new pair of jeans. Gotcha mom, I’m playing pong! Use your imagination. You could also try asking a manager where you work if they will sponsor your team for $100 or maybe even half of that. Tell them you will where their shirts and that it will be good advertising for them. It’s worth a shot.

22. Our house plays with different rules and they are the best rules in the history of beer pong. Can we play with ours instead?

No, sorry. I imagine you do have some really creative rules and I would like to come play pong with you sometime, but for consistency we have to stick with a basic set of rules. Our rules are a combination of our favorite house rules and what works best while running a tournament of this size.

23. Can we bring guests to watch?

Guests can purchase spectator tickets for $10 at the Ticketmaster website.

24. How does the 1st round best of three work?

We made the first round a best of three so it will be double elimination to make things more competitive.

25. I don’t live in Michigan, can I still play?

Yes, bragging rights are for the state of Michigan, but the tournament is open to everyone.

26. I am from out of state. Will you give me somewhere to stay?

We can give you a few different hotels depending on price and location that will best suit you. Just shoot us an email and we can work it out for you.

27. This sounds cool. Will you ever be coming to California?

It is difficult to find a venue this big, but we are currently looking at the following areas. New Brunswick, New Jersey; College Station, Texas; and Tempe Arizona. If you think your area could have enough pongers to fill this tournament, let us know.

28. I’m from Texas and I would definitely be there if I could afford to get there. Got any ideas for me?

We have a contact that runs a charter bus company and he would be able to pick up people up from in or out of state and bring to the tournament. We will need to get back to you on the price per person, but it will be cheaper than driving or flying yourself. Keep in mind it will need to be a large group to make it worth his time.
